An ideal introduction to camping for first-time students.
1
Wilderness Explorers is a two-day trekking and camping experience for students, ideal for first-time campers.
2
The programme introduces children to the simple joys of  camping and outdoor living.  Students go on an easy to moderately-challenging trek, pushing their boundaries and strengthening teamwork.
3
The magic of camping under the stars will forever remain a core memory - where they live like true explorers and learn fundamental wilderness skills such as setting up camp and cooking their own meals.
4
These are two glorious days of  unplugging from technology, living in nature, learning fun, astonishing stories about the natural world , and living independently outside home and  comfort zones.

Why it’s important
for students to

experience camping

It isn’t every day that children receive  opportunities to discover who they are beyond familiar urban, indoor routines. Studies show that camping outdoors offers valuable sensory, cognitive, physical, and emotional experiences, vastly different  from those in school and at home.

How We Keep Students Safe on the Wilderness Explorers Programme

Experienced and Caring Educators
Our Outdoor Educators are certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Basic Life Support (BLS). They are skilled at guiding children safely while nurturing their confidence and curiosity in the outdoors.
Safe and Comfortable Sleeping Arrangements
Children stay two or three to a tent, with boys and girls in separate tents and programme facilitators nearby. Regular headcounts and night checks ensure everyone is accounted for and comfortable.
Facilitation and Assessment Tools
The workshop equips teachers with practical tools to confidently facilitate EL activities and assess learning outcomes, not just through grades, but through growth in engagement, empathy, and real-world understanding.
Prepared for Changing Weather
We track weather conditions closely and adjust plans with safety as the top priority. Waterproof tents and required rain gear mean children stay dry, and even get to enjoy the joy of light rain in the wilderness.
Living Safely With Nature
Children learn how to observe insects, bugs, and reptiles without fear. Our team shares what to watch for, areas to avoid, and how to coexist respectfully with wildlife.
Women Facilitators
We always have women facilitators present on our overnight camps.

What support will we receive to prepare for the programme?
Icon - orange arrow pointing down
Preparing for Wilderness Explorers is simple, and we make sure schools, teachers, and students feel ready. Before the programme, we conduct school visits or online pre-trek sessions, where we walk everyone through the experience and even do safety demos. Each school is supported by a dedicated co-ordinator, along with resources like packing lists, articles, and videos. Teachers and students are briefed on every detail — the location, terrain, what to expect, and how to get the most out of the programme — so you step into the trek confident and well-prepared.
What is the student to instructor ratio?
Icon - orange arrow pointing down
We maintain a low ratio of about 1 instructor for every 10 students. This is so each student gets personal attention, guidance, and encouragement throughout the trek. A smaller ratio allows programme facilitators to notice how students are doing physically and emotionally, step in with support when needed, and create space for meaningful group interactions. With this balance, students feel cared for as individuals while still experiencing the fun and teamwork of being part of a larger group. It’s one of the ways we make sure the trek is both safe and deeply impactful.

What if children are afraid of the dark?
Icon - orange arrow pointing down
It’s common for some children to feel uneasy in the dark, especially on their first night outdoors. Our facilitators ease them into the experience gently, encouraging them to move in small groups, and making sure no child is ever left alone. We also plan simple activities like stargazing, storytelling, or short guided night walks so they slowly shift from fear to curiosity. Very often, by the end of the trek, children find the nights to be one of the most memorable parts of their experience.
What safety equipment do you carry on the trek?
Icon - orange arrow pointing down
We carry all the essential safety equipment to handle any situation that may arise on the trail. For instance, if paths become slippery after rain, our programme facilitators are trained and equipped to fix ropes on tricky sections to ensure safe passage — even though these are rarely needed. Our team stays fully connected with walkie-talkies, so every member, from the lead Trek Leader to the sweeper at the back, is aware of what’s happening at all times. In addition, they carry a comprehensive medical kit stocked with supplies to treat cuts, bruises, sprains, or insect bites. Together, these precautions ensure that students are safe, well-supported, and free to focus on enjoying the trek and the outdoors.
Who will lead the programme?
Icon - orange arrow pointing down
Each group is led by a highly qualified and experienced programme facilitator.

They know the trails thoroughly — from the terrain to fascinating stories about local flora and fauna. All Trek Leaders are trained in mountaineering and certified as Wilderness First Responder's (WFR) and in Basic Life Support (BLS), equipping them to handle emergencies with confidence. Beyond their strong technical skills, what truly sets them apart is their ability to connect with children. They guide with patience, care, and enthusiasm, making the trek both safe and deeply enriching while nurturing a love for the outdoors.
